Singapore Memory Project @ JRL Media Wall

The Singapore Memory Project @ Jurong Regional Library brought the National Library Board's broader memory-gathering mission to a local community audience. Texture designed and built the media wall that anchored the installation: an interactive map of Singapore where visitors could zoom in on specific locations across the island and surface the memories, stories, and histories attached to each place.

The map was rich with layered discovery. Visitors zooming into Toa Payoh Lorong 6, for instance, could pull up details of the iconic dragon playground, one of ten surviving heritage playgrounds the installation documented. Each location connected visitors to a piece of Singapore that existed in memory but might no longer exist on the ground, giving the media wall a depth that a conventional exhibition panel could not match.

Interactive Memory Map

A zoomable digital map of Singapore where visitors could explore specific locations and discover the stories, facts, and memories attached to each place. Every point on the map was a portal into a different layer of Singapore's social history.

Heritage Discovery Layer

A curated layer of Singapore's older and lesser-known places, including the island's surviving heritage playgrounds, documented and made explorable through the map interface, preserving community knowledge in a form that invited browsing rather than reading.

Community Memory Archive

Built on content captured by the Singapore Memory Project through road shows, interviews, and the singaporememory.sg portal, giving the installation depth and ongoing relevance as the wider memory-gathering project continued to grow.
